About us

Our Story

A family-owned restaurant, bar and brewery in the old San Carlo’s building on Route 30.

From San Carlo’s to Spruce

If you’ve been in York a while, you probably remember 333 Arsenal Road as San Carlo’s and The Hop, where people went for dinner, drinks and dancing. Our family bought the building in 2016 and spent the next several years renovating it. Spruce on Blackbridge opened in March 2026.

The space

The building is over 20,000 square feet on two floors and holds more than 600 guests. There are three bars inside, plus an outdoor bar and a covered patio. Four rooms can be booked for private events: the Green Room downstairs, and the Partial Loft, Full Loft and Lounge upstairs.

Brewed here

Our brewmaster, Justin Lee, brewed at Victory Brewing Company before coming to Spruce, and every Spruce beer is made here. If you’re heading west on Route 30, look for the brewing tanks in our front windows.

The kitchen

The menu has pizza from our brick oven, pasta, steaks and seafood, plus a few Mediterranean dishes like chicken souvlaki. Brunch is on Sundays, and there’s a happy hour every day.

Reservations and walk-ins are always welcome.
